AFCEA Bethesda's Monthly Breakfast

Mission Interoperability: Technology and Standards
Government agencies are improving mission performance through responsible information sharing and the use of interoperability standards to help better fulfill missions in the areas of cybersecurity, homeland security, law-enforcement and more.  The Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s (ODNI) Information Sharing Environment (ISE) is continually establishing pathways to better use their interoperability framework including the upcoming release of “Project Interoperability.”  “Project Interoperability” is in the process of being established by the ISE’s Standards Coordinating Council, of which AFCEA is a member. This initiative provides a so-called “greatest hits” of best practices developed over the last decade around terrorism and homeland security information sharing.

On the cybersecurity front, many federal and industry leaders are focusing on more robust applications of ISE frameworks including threat modeling and setting data standards to create greater cross-domain cybersecurity defenses.

Join AFCEA Bethesda on April 9, 2014, for “Mission Interoperability: Technology and Standards.” This breakfast panel, which is produced in conjunction with the ISE and other top federal IT leaders, will discuss the future of mission interoperability, creating standards and improving mission efficacy.

Panelists will discuss:
  • Identifying high-priority standards activities that can be coordinated across standards development organizations for greater return on resources
  • Developing information sharing architectures and standards-based implementations that enable more successful mission delivery
  • Achieving greater interoperability through standards-based acquisition
  • Advancing responsible information sharing to further counterterrorism, homeland security, and cybersecurity missions
  • Using tools and techniques to increase information sharing and Information awareness, while maximizing benefit and minimizing impact on the sources
  • Funding data sharing initiatives
  • Resourcing information sharing initiative
  • Driving responsible information sharing by interconnecting existing networks and systems with strong identity, access, and discovery capabilities
