21st International Seapower Symposium

RESCHEDULED!!

The 21st International Seapower Symposium (ISS-21) will be held at the U.S. Naval War College, with the theme: “Global Solutions to Common Maritime Challenges”

The purpose of ISS is to create and solidify solutions within a global network of maritime nations to voluntarily harness the power of the international community in ways that are in the interests of individual nations, in order to effectively and efficiently confront the common challenges and threats within the maritime domain.

Leaders of the world's maritime forces will come together to find solutions to areas of common interest including increasing capacity to ensure maritime security in territorial waters and approaches, improving the ability to survey exclusive economic zones (EEZ), participating in regional security initiatives and, for those navies so capable, exporting maritime security to other regions of the world either in the form of maritime operations or security assistance.

Three panels and a breakout seminar will be conducted to explore the ISS-21 theme.  These panels and seminars are designed to facilitate discussion so differing perspectives can be solicited and shared. The panels are:
  • "Future Trends in Maritime Security"
  • "Maritime Implications of Climate Change"
  • "Enhancing Coalition Operations"
