Export Control Reform Round 3: Missiles, Explosives, Body Armor and More

Webinar Instructor:

March 5, 2014

ECoP®EAR or ITAR renewal credits = 1

The changes just keep on coming to both the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

We are now in the transition period for the third set of transition rules. This round will directly impact manufacturers and exporters of launch vehicles, missiles, explosives, propellants, training equipment and personal protective equipment, among other items.

If you have products or technologies controlled in US Munitions List Categories IV, V, IX, X and XVI, this is the webinar for you. These amendments will result in many (but by no means all!) items in these categories moving off the US Munitions List.

The time for talk is over, and the moment for action is now! Learn what you need to know to prepare your organization to take advantage of the new rules. Time is short -- these changes will come into effect before you know it. Join us as we tackle these topics and more:

  • What the new definition of "specially designed" really means for classification purposes, and how it is different from "specifically designed."
  • How to classify formerly ITAR-controlled items on the Commerce Control List, especially the new "600 series" Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs).
  • When you do and do not need a license under the EAR to export these items, including a discussion of License Exception STA.
  • The actions exporters should take now to prepare for the July 1, 2014 effective date of these changes.

This Webinar will provide PowerPoint slides and include live video and commentary from Scott Gearity who has been bringing over 15 years of consulting, training and corporate export compliance program management experience to bear for his clients. Webinar participants are invited to submit questions during the webinar, the final 30 minutes of the webinar will be allotted to answering attendees' questions.
