Indigenous Employment

This conference will focus on innovative approaches for creating real and sustainable jobs for Aboriginal people living in regional Australia.

It is widely accepted that employment opportunities are key to stopping the systemic problem of Aboriginal disadvantage.

In the past employment and training programs have provided ‘training for training’s sake’, without providing practical skills and opportunities for career development and longevity.

With the Commonwealth Government having recently committed to boosting Indigenous employment, it is vital that employers and service providers strengthen their engagement strategies.

This conference will address how to:

. Develop activities that genuinely transition to employment
. Develop sustainable employment opportunities
. Strategies to engage with Indigenous communities
. Ensure career development for Indigenous employment
. Overcome accessibility issues within remote areas
