The 11th Annual Future of the PBS Summit

With significant spending cuts and an emphasis toward the Commonwealth government living within its means, 2014 will be an economically challenging year in a climate of deepening deficit and declining growth, as the mining boom subsides.

The impact this will have on the direction of future healthcare reform and its influence on the healthcare system raises several questions.Amongst this economic backdrop, 2014 presents itself as critical year in relation to the PBS as negotiation for the sixth Community Pharmacy Agreement commences for a July 2015 commencement.

With the end of the current Agreement marking 25 years of the current CPA policy framework, the 11th annual Future of the PBS Summit marks a wonderful opportunity to review past, present and future frameworks in light of achieving preferred outcomes in a new Agreement. This will present an occasion not to be missed for pharmacy regulators, pharmaceutical companies and wholesalers, practitioners, educators and consumers.

Key issues to be discussed include:Overview of the medicines marketEconomic analysis and impactPBS reformsRegulation and complianceCommunity Pharmacy AgreementNational Medicines PolicyResearch and innovationIndigenous health
