About State of the States 2010:

This webinar is an overview of INPUT’s upcoming report, State of the States 2010: Initiatives and IT Implications. Each year, INPUT analyzes the state of the state addresses of governors, where they lay out their policy agenda for the upcoming fiscal year (beginning July 1, 2010 for most states). The announced initiatives are classified into INPUT’s 12 state and local vertical categories, as well as numerous subcategories. Most initiatives are management related; INPUT identifies the technologies most commonly associated with those management goals. By understanding the most common initiatives nationally, contractors can tailor their business development strategies as follows:

  • Identify solutions that may be conveyed from current clients to prospective states trying to solve similar problems
  • Encourage current clients to consider solutions that are on the agenda in other states
  • Develop new solutions for emerging management concerns that will peak in a year or two

In addition, 2010 brings about an unusually high rate of turnover in governors’ offices.  For this edition of the report, INPUT analyzed the initiatives announced by governors leaving office, those running for re-election, and those in states that are not holding elections this year. This allows INPUT to give contractors a glimpse into the future, in terms of what initiatives are most likely to be on the front burner of all the new governors in fiscal year 2011.
