Defense Acquisition Modernization Symposium "Better Buying Power: Do We Have It Right?"

The first annual Defense Acquisition Modernization Symposium will be hosted by AFCEA in Washington, D.C. and will highlight “Better Buying Power” as it is applied to government, industry, and academia. This event will include leaders from the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (OUSD(AT&L)), Assistant Secretary of the Navy (ASN) (Research, Development & Acquisition (RDA)), along with Industry leaders to provide updates and exchanges among scholars and practitioners of public sector acquisition. Participants and attendees will represent a broad range of acquisition expertise from academia, government, and industry that are shaping acquisition modernization.

The format will include plenary speakers, panels, workshops, and breakout sessions to meet the needs of all attendees.  The workshops will be two hour sessions focused on topical issues and will capture feedback from attendees to support or recommend changes to acquisition processes. The breakout sessions will provide attendees a chance to dialogue about acquisition issues with speakers and colleagues. Attendees will leave with not only a greater understanding of “Better Buying Power”, but also some of the acquisition changes and challenges facing government and industry. Attendees at this symposium will be able to contribute to acquisition change through participatory engagement. This symposium will be one of a kind and limited to 700 attendees.
