Iraq Future Energy Forum 2014



Taking place at Le Meridien Amman from the 18-20 May, with the support of the Federal Parliament of Iraq, the Ministry of Electricity, the Ministry of Planning, the Governate of Basra, the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq – Amman and the Iraqi Business Council of Jordan, Iraq Future Energy Forum will address key issues facing Iraq’s energy sectors.


Day One opens with a keynote address from HE Adnan al Janabi, Chairman of the Oil and Energy Parliamentary Committee followed by an update on the implementation of Iraq’s National Energy Strategy provided by Dr. Hussain al Sharistani’s technical advisor – Mr Abdulilah Al Amir. The day continues on the oil and gas theme with discussions covering the Rumaila oilfield modernization, Basra investments, sustainability, an IOC panel discussion and an overview of gas development in Iraq.


Day Two focuses on projects, infrastructure and investment. HE Mr Bassem Khalil Al Salem, Chairman of the Capital Bank of Jordan, will provide the keynote address followed by presentations covering Petrodollar projects in Basra and the Nasiriya Integrated project: oilfield and refinery. Discussions will then address pipeline infrastructure in Iraq, including the Iraq-Jordan Pipeline. After lunch the conference focuses on Iraq’s downstream industry including petrochemical mega projects and feedstocks, presented by Dr. Mustafa Al-Jarrah, former Director General of Iraq’s Petrochemical Industry. Presentations continue by addressing power challenges in Iraq, electricity sector reform, the National Development Plan, water and the CSSP.


Day Three features a workshop on investment frameworks providing practical insight into the structuring and financing of energy projects in Iraq. The afternoon will see delegates enjoying the beauty and history of Amman with a panoramic city tour taking in the sights of both old and new Amman.
