Federal Webcast—Database Performance Problems: Emergency Remediation and Proactive Alerting

The check engine light in your car is an alert that tells you to bring it to a technical specialist to analyze the data, determine the root cause and take corrective action.   Without the correct tools and technology, it can be difficult for a mechanic to figure out what is really going on under the hood.

In the world of IT Operations, monitoring software (like SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor) can monitor your IT infrastructure and alert you to the fact that there is a problem that needs attention.  But when the monitoring data indicates the root cause is likely to be a database performance issue, it is best to bring in a database specialist with the correct tools (like SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer) to truly determine if the database is the root cause.

To keep applications running at peak performance Database Administrators and Systems Managers both require a clear, comprehensive picture into the entire application stack. Not just alerts or notifications but dashboards with drill-down capability, analysis, and advice in order to know where the root cause of the problem lies and how to resolve it. They need to work together to resolve problems quickly, but what they also want is a way to avoid problems in the first place.  Is the app server running low on memory?  Is the web server out of cpu?  Are those queries written poorly?  Do we need a better indexing strategy?  Has the Query Plan just changed?  Is this current behavior normal?   These are all good questions that can be answered with appropriate monitoring tools so people from different teams can work together to get to the root cause of application performance problems.

Please join SQL Server MVP and Microsoft Certified Master, Thomas LaRock and Lead Federal Sales Engineer, Ed Bender, for this live event to learn some best practices for federal agencies in server, application and database performance monitoring and problem resolution. You’ll also see how you can become more proactive in your approach with an intuitive User Interface that is easy to learn, use and understand - just like you expect with SolarWinds products.
