Crisis Management Operations: Role of Social Media Intelligence (SOCMINT)

Conducting Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), for wider intelligence, counter-terrorism and risk management work has become a complex and increasingly resource intensive task for both Government and Defence Intelligence agencies, and the commercial risk management sector alike. Social media monitoring offers a number of different methods to distribute results and analysis. The functionality of social media monitoring seamlessly integrates to support the requirements of each stage of the intelligence cycle. Such functions can significantly speed up the process of dissemination by compacting results into analytical toolsets and reporting formats.

This masterclass hosted by the Joint Mission Analysis Center (JMAC), HQ UNIFIL will provide an in-depth analysis into the vital and increasing role of SOCMINT as a component of OSINT in crisis management operations, focusing on the situation of the Middle East and the events currently unfolding there.
