Outcome Driven Government Workshop

OUTCOME DRIVEN GOVERNMENT FORUM

Achieving better results through new approaches to enterprise acrchitecture that focus on outcomes.

Organizing Workshop

This initial meeting is about establishing a community whose mission is to help Government organizations discover and put into practice new approaches to enterprise architecture that contribute to agency performance and deliver measureable improvements in results.

Purpose

Outcome Driven Government (ODG) is a member community of Government and Industry thought leaders and practitioners with a focus on delivering outcomes that matter.

According to the recent annual survey conducted by the Partnership for Public Service, innovation is at an all-time low. Contributing factors include sequestration, acquisition hurdles, and other difficult issues that stifle needed transformation.

The private and public sectors, when working together, can help drive key changes that enable Government agencies to adopt leaner and smarter approaches, and therby achieve better outcomes with less resources at every level and across the Government.

The purpose of ODG is to exchange ideas and best practices with those who have been successful at delivering outcomes that achieve mission success in a rapid and cost-effective way across IT, financial, health, performance management, acquisition, program management, operations, and other domains.

Objective

Our objective is to grow the ODG community into a sustainable activity that will hold workshops, webinars, meet-up groups, and other events to bring together Government practitioners with industry, researchers, educators and other innovators to drive the adoption of proven approaches, and showcase case studies and success stories with interactive discussions, white papers, and other supporting documents provided to members.

The Changing Practice of EA

In today’s fiscal environment, Government agencies are struggling to meet mission goals with greatly reduced resources. They are searching for new ways to improve productivity, performance, and accountability for large-scale transformational initiatives, IT programs, acquisitions, and other projects.

The promises of Enterprise Architecture (EA) as a discipline to help organizations translate business vision and strategy into effective enterprise change have been slow to materialize and lack the agility to keep pace with technology-driven change.

Consequently, the practice of EA is shifting to focus more on business and mission outcomes, as well as agile methodologies, to deliver value quickly and cost-effectively. This movement is changing the way Government leaders look at EA and how it can help achieve transformational success.
