Patient First

Patient safety is the biggest single issue in the NHS and UK healthcare. After a year of unprecedented focus on patient safety, 2014 is the start of the next stage in the journey to eradicate avoidable harm and deliver improved outcomes.

The legacy of the Francis report (and the government’s formal response) into Mid Staffordshire, the Keogh review into trusts with unusually high mortality rates and the Berwick review on behalf of the Prime Minister is system-wide acknowledgement that patient safety must be the driving force for commissioners and providers.

Patient First is the new national healthcare event for UK patient safety, created to support Professor Don Berwick’s call for a learning culture and providing two days of compelling content for boards, doctors, nurses, managers, pharmacists and all those concerned about delivering improved safety outcomes to patients and service users.
