MOAA / NDIA 2014 Warrior-Family Symposium

The 2014 Warrior-Family Symposium (WFS), co-sponsored by the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), will address the matters and needs that currently serving, veterans, their children, spouses and caregivers face when navigating the transition from the military into a civilian environment while managing challenges of combat/ operational stress, mental health or behavioral health care concerns.

Some focus areas will include:

  • Managing reintegration from the military to civilian community and strengthening the civilian community-military collaboration.
  • The needs and impact on military children and families dealing with mental health concerns in the home and education system; and why this matters to every community.
  • Programs that make a difference (e.g. How the Veterans' Treatment Courts benefit the justice-involved veteran and community).
  • Tools for navigating a smooth transition- how veterans, military families and children can better manage the effects associated with combat/operational stress, PTS, and behavioral health, before and during reintegration.

Who Should Attend: Administration, Congressional, Department of Defense, Military Service Departments, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Labor, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and other governmental and non-governmental leaders and staff members; Service members and Veterans, military families, caregivers, educators, justice-involved Veteran professionals and volunteers, medical and non-medical professionals, lawmakers, industry, community leaders, and other interested organizations and individuals.
