National Domestic Violence Conference
According to the Prime Minister's office, one-in-three Australian women have experienced physical violence and almost one-in-five have experienced sexual violence since the age of 15. While living safe and free from violence is everyone's right, reducing violence is everyone's responsibility. An integrated response that reinforces strong partnerships between police, case workers, community groups and policy makers is crucial to addressing and helping us, as a society, prevent domestic violence.
Our inaugural National Domestic Violence Summit will bring together the community, welfare and healthcare groups alongside with the government agencies devoted to combating domestic violence through policy, education and services. Being held during the 16 Days of Activism to Eliminate Violence against Women, it will showcase the initiatives, research and resourceful partnerships that are helping make a positive change.
