Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Resources, Utilities & Engineering Conference

Following on from the success of our first UAVs in Resources Industry Conference this June, Informa is delighted to announce a broader scope UAVs event: UAVs in Resources, Utilities and Engineering – to take place on the 13-14 October 2014 at the Stamford Plaza, Brisbane.

The use of UAVs in the mining, oil/gas industries and utilities sectors is increasing as new applications are discovered and developed. Enormous potential exists to roll out this technology across mine sites, resource projects, utilities and engineering projects all over Australia.

UAVs are a fraction of the cost of piloted aircraft with enormous safety benefits.

Just some of the potential for UAV use in the resource and utilities industries include (and will be addressed at the conference):

  • Inspection of fixed plant and to get a better analysis of potential shutdown for repair
  • Inspection of high voltage powerlines and transmission towers
  • Corrosion inspections and aerial inspection at height
  • Stockpile volume modelling
  • Aerial surveying and mapping of mine sites
  • Monitor for any subsidence above or adjacent to underground mines
  • Thermal monitoring of coal stockpiles
  • Pit mapping for highwalls, pit walls and development faces
  • Surveying and monitoring offshore oil/gas infrastructure
  • New uses for aerial real time truck management, site and remote infrastructure monitoring, and machinery tracking
  • Remove risk and increase safety for site personnel
  • Monitor the performance of mine tailings facilities
  • And much more…
