Effective Data Usage
According to recent estimates 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are created every day. By the year 2020 it’s widely estimated there will be 40 zettabytes of data and government agencies will own much of it. This data comes from everywhere including sensors used to gather climate information, public safety and emergency management organizations, healthcare systems and more. The value of making this data open and available has long been recognized.  But, many questions arise when trying to make meaningful use of the data that we have.

Is data independent from the system? If so, how can it be used effectively and efficiently to deploy programs? How do we monitor and use data available from a variety of sources and what laws, both domestic and international affect how the data can be used?  What are the best practices for tracking the use of that data and how do you track it?
