Making Crucial Federal Personnel Decisions With EEO in Mind
When it comes to personnel decisions, there’s a fine line between permissible and inappropriate … and crossing it could lead your agency into costly EEO complaints. Diversity and EO specialist Lynda Glover will guide you through the perennial hotspots — making hiring and promotion decisions based on qualifications, and writing performance reviews based on appropriate considerations.
From creating selection criteria to asking about children during an interview, find out what kinds of considerations are acceptable and which can raise EEO problems. You’ll make decisions that preclude even the appearance of discrimination and that are more defensible if challenged in an EEO complaint by learning how to:
- Advertise vacancies in a manner that ensures equal opportunity
- Formulate job-related interview questions and avoid the questions you should not ask
- Explain selection and promotion decisions to individuals who were not selected
- Meet legal requirements for retaining information and notes related to selection decisions
- Differentiate between performance and conduct to properly address issues during a performance review
- And more!
