The Future of Welfare Conference

The Conversation and Informa Australia are pleased to present the Future of Welfare Conference. The forum seeks to examine the welfare system and the policy and reform directions for welfare in Australia.  The two days will look not only at the concept of social welfare and the evolution of thinking worldwide around welfare but also at current realities and policy directions in Australia and whether this will or should reframe how we see and deliver welfare. The forum will bring together government, business, the social and community welfare sectors with leading thinkers on welfare.

  • Principles of social justice and welfare
  • The costs of welfare (national and international views)
  • The national review on welfare - indicators and future directions
  • The welfare/work nexus
  • Welfare and mental illness
  • The nature of social expenditure and the distribution/nature of spending on key income support payments - focus on pensions, disability, youth, income support, family payments and aged-care services
