15th Australasian Remote Sensing & Photogrammetry Conference (ARSPC)

The Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Commission of the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Insitute and the 15ARSPC Organising Committee look forward to welcoming delegates to the 15ARSPC in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, to be held between the 13th and the 17th of September 2010.

This is the first time  in the history of the ARSPC series that the conference is to be held in the unique landscape of Arid Central Australia. We are excited by the distinctive opportunities that this will provide for the remote sensing and photogrammetric community of Australasia.  Not only will you encounter the vivid and distinctive landscape of outback Australia, but you also have the opportunity to apply remote sensing knowledge in this environment. The conference will provide a forum for showcasing Australasia’s latest spatial research, expertise and future remote sensing developments along with a focus on technical and application based projects and demonstrations of new and novel products and services.

Alice Springs is set amongst the West MacDonnell Ranges which provides an ever-present reminder of the geological and environmental significance that are reccuring themes of this conference series.  This conference will provide delegates opportunities to visit many sites of geographical significance, (Lamberts Center, Johnston's Geodetic Station and the ACRES Data Acquisition Facility) along with tours to some of the most spectacular landscapes in the world including The West MacDonnell Ranges, Watarrka National Park (King's Canyon), Palm Valley, along with Uluru (Ayres Rock) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas).

Central Australia also offers unique opportunities for field workshops and demonstrations of applied practical techniques in distinctive arid  locations. We are making every effort to design professional activities which provide you with the opportunity to experience remote sensing and photogrammetry in an applied as well as theoretical sense.

The Conference Organising committee is working on an exciting, innovative and diverse program which will include a distinguished range of keynote speakers; concurrent and contemporary session keynotes and presentations; field based workshops including full day field trips, and a social event schedule that you will not easily forget in some of Central Australia's most iconic venues.

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to come and see the centre of Australia; remotely and spatially; at the 15ARSPC.
