Australian Coal Conference

In a period of depressed coal prices, the coal industry has been implementing costs reduction and productivity programmes and exploring strategy changes. After years of high investment and export levels the coal industry has now to address critical issues to establish long term sustainable solutions for the industry.

The Australian Coal Conference is the only coal focussed event held in Sydney addressing the future of the coal industry in Australia. It will provide a key opportunity for Australian stakeholders to meet in Sydney to hear from major players and industry experts and analyse the current trends changing the coal industry. An excellent opportunity to gauge where the Australian coal industry is heading.

The agenda will analyse global market trends, operation and project developments, and examine the outlook for industry stakeholders. A component of the conference will include views and insights into service opportunities and challenges for equipment and services suppliers looking to build or maintain sustainable relationships with coal producers. It will also be an opportunity to highlight recent achievements in productivity increase and costs reductions.

Topics include:

  • Financial trends in global coal mining
  • Costs & productivity
  • Supply & Demand for coke and thermal coal
  • Finance & Investment (M&A activity, asset combination, foreign investment, infrastructure)
  • Exports
  • Juniors outlook
  • Competition from other energy fuel sources
  • Energy policies
  • Procurement strategies
