Give Me 5: Transitioning Out of 8a - Get Financials in Order
The Small Business Association (SBA) created the 8(a) Business Development Program to help small and economically disadvantaged businesses win contracts from the federal government. Throughout the nine year program, 8(a) members receive benefits and protection from the competition of established businesses also competing for government contracts. As the protections come to an end, many businesses have difficulty transitioning out of the program and continuing to be successful.
To help small businesses position and prepare for continued success after leaving the 8(a) program, Give Me 5 is hosting a series of free webinars that provide practical advice for the transition process. A list of upcoming webinars in the series is included below.
The next installment in the series, on April 15th, will help prepare business owners for the financial challenges of leaving the 8(a) program. The webinar will discuss best practices for ensuring a successful financial transition, such as finding a financial partner, receiving a credit line increase and preparing for government audits. The series will be instructed by Barbara English, President of English Solutions, and an experienced government contractor of 36 years.
