Give Me 5: Transitioning Out of 8a - Establish an Excellent Recruiting System

The Small Business Association (SBA) created the 8(a) Business Development Program to help small and economically disadvantaged businesses win contracts from the federal government. Throughout the nine year program, 8(a) members receive benefits and protection from the competition of established businesses also competing for government contracts. However, many businesses have difficulty transitioning out of the program and continuing to be successful.

To help small businesses position and prepare for continued success after leaving the 8(a) program, Give Me 5 has been hosting a series of free webinars that provide practical advice for the transition process. The full list of webinars in the series is included here.

The next installment in the series, on May 6th, will discuss the varying protocol for hiring once awarded a contract, including the pros and cons of internal recruitment and external staffing agencies. The series will be instructed by Tracy Balazs, President and CEO of Federal Staffing Resources, LLC.

The Give Me 5 program was created by American Express OPEN and Women Impacting Public Policy in 2008 to help women business owners get a leg up on selling to the world’s largest customer:  the U.S. government.
