AFCEA Bethesda's Monthly Breakfast

Legacy Systems Modernization

Federal agencies are increasingly being tasked with improving efficiencies, security and business processes across the enterprise. From storage and consolidation requirements to privacy, security and transparency regulations; data and IT resource management continues to focus on integrating legacy platforms and processes with new requirements, and sometimes with new systems.

The Legacy Systems Modernization breakfast will bring together senior government leaders for a conversation about what agencies will gain by modernizing legacy IT and the impact it has on their operations.

Panelists will discuss:

  • Evaluating when to modernize and when to start from scratch to eliminate redundant systems
  • Business process, regulatory and financial drivers for modernization including how agencies choose customized off the shelf vs. custom development projects when modernizing
  • How cloud technologies are changing the way agencies modernize their infrastructure
  • Architecting applications using a Service Oriented Architecture to allow for future expansion and centralization of methods and services
  • How modernizing legacy systems can better position infrastructure to connect with new technologies and facilitate future cost savings
  • How to maintain secure operations while modernizing and migrating data
