School Library Journal Leadership Summit

The 11th annual SLJ Leadership Summit: Ready for Anything: Teaming Up To Support the Whole Child PreK to 20 will bring together a dynamic group of school librarians, education leaders, and tech innovators, as well as authors, publishers, and vendor stakeholders. This influential assembly—along with an array of presenters—convenes to tackle the most pressing challenges and the greatest opportunities facing schools and school libraries.  This year, we are very excited to be bringing the Summit to the Pacific Northwest, where highly creative work keeps emerging from Washington State and regional teacher librarians to help spur school and student success. We are excited to bring this national forum into such a vibrant community of education leaders.

The 2015 Summit will address dynamic, holistic approaches to supporting the success of kids in school and beyond, the institutional partnerships that effectively address the full complexity in a child’s life as they move from their earliest years into adulthood, and more. Attendees will gain insight into the evolving and critical role of librarians in this ecosystem, models and tools to take back to their own schools, and vast informal learning from peer leaders from across the country. There will be plenty of time for reflection, collaboration, and networking with colleagues.

The summit will also include special keynotes by  Marnie Webb, CEO of Caravan Studios, a division of TechSoup Global, and Perri Klass, author, physician, and national medical director of Reach Out and Read, a special author panel and fast learning sessions from library leaders from across the nation.

The Summit officially starts on Saturday, September 26 at 9:00 am. However, participants are encouraged to arrive early to join us for exciting and informative pre-conference events, including a tour of four Seattle school libraries*; sponsor focus groups;  an “early arrival” cocktail reception hosted on site by Capstone Publishers; and a late night meetup to connect with old friends and make new ones. Information on Friday’s pre-conference events is included on the schedule page and on the registration form.
