GEOINT Community Week
USGIF’s GEOINT Community Week brings together the defense, intelligence, homeland security, and geospatial communities at-large for a week of briefings, educational sessions, workshops, technology exhibits and networking opportunities.
Various events will be held throughout the week in locations spread out in Northern Virginia. Some events are free while others require a fee.

USGIF Small Satellite Workshop
Monday, Nov. 16-17 at NCE, Springfield VA
Join USGIF and its SmallSat Working Group for a two-day agenda discussing critical issues and opportunities in the SmallSat community. This event will facilitate government, industry and academia information exchange and collaboration as well as sharpen industry understanding of unmet needs thereby ensuring smarter IR&D investments. Day one is unclassified and day two is classified. Each day requires a separate registration.

Geospatial & Remote Sensing Law Workshop
Wednesday, Nov. 18 at General Dynamics Information Technology, Springfield, VA
USGIF Geospatial and Remote Sensing Law Working Group is offering a half-day program on legal matters critical to the geospatial community. Lawyers, government contract administrators, and business leaders from across the geospatial community will benefit from this program. The program includes three panels: Government Contracts and Organizational Conflicts of Interest; Government Contracts and Intellectual Property; and Developments in Licensing of Commercial Remote Sensing Satellites.
GIS Day
Wednesday, Nov. 18 at George Mason University, Center for the Arts, Fairfax, VA
GIS Day is a global event that provides an international forum for users of GIS technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a difference in our society. USGIFwill be participating in George Mason University’s Department of Geography and Geoinformation Science GIS Day at the Center for the Arts on the Fairfax, Va., campus.
This year’s theme at GIS Day at GMU is “GIS and Health.” GIS and geography have long been considered essential to studying and understanding health-related topics, from tracking and visualizing disease diffusion to identifying the drivers of health outcomes and optimally locating health care services. The event consists of a career/internship fair, speakers, presentations, and the department’s annual student poster/map competition.
NGA Tech Showcase East
Wednesday, Nov. 18 at NGA Campus East, Springfield, VA
USGIF’s NGA Tech Showcase East is a full-day classified event that offers attendees the opportunity to listen to briefings and see demos inside and around NGA’s facilities and workspaces. Attendees will learn what challenges NGA is working on, what business opportunities are coming, and how your company can help NGA accomplish its mission.
YPG Third Thursday
Thursday, Nov. 19 at St. Louis and Tampa
Unlike other YPG events, this was more of an informal, drop-in gathering. But serves as another way for young GEOINT professionals to grow their network by way of good old-fashioned conversation.
Geography 2050: Exploring Our Future in an Urbanized World
Thursday, Nov. 19 – Friday, Nov. 20
USGIF is partnering with the American Geographical Society for their annual fall symposium in New York City. Join other thought leaders from academia, industry, government, and the social sector who care about the future geography of our cities.
