“Saluting Women in the Military” - Federal News Radio & Women of Washington Radio Series
Join Federal News Radio and “Women of Washington” (WOW) for a special series honoring our women veterans. “Women of Washington” co-hosts Aileen Black and Gigi Schumm will be interviewing five women doctors on their experiences providing critical medical support to U.S. troops in Afghanistan. The radio series will conclude with an interview with Deborah Lee James, who will share her inspirational journey to becoming Secretary of the Air Force.
The series will air through November 16, Mondays and Wednesdays at 1pm on Federal News Radio 1500AM and on FederalNewsRadio.com, and will feature comments from the Commander of Task Force Medical-Afghanistan and the 455th Expeditionary Medical Group at Craig Joint Theater Hospital, Bagram Airfield, and four of other doctors.
These five courageous women will share the innovative ways they stay in touch with loved ones at home as they support our brave, critically injured American troops and allies overseas. Their heart-wrenching stories will move you – please tune in to learn more about these brave women veterans!
Speaker and Presenter Information
Majors Kristen Reineke-Piper, Erica Hill and Anjeli Nayar are doctors working at Craig Joint Theater Hospital, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. During these interviews, they share their experiences, both triumphant and heart-breaking.
Major Reineke-Piper attended University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. This was her first deployment to Afghanistan.
Major Hill is from Glendale, Arizona. She graduated from the US Air Force Academy and then graduated from medical school at Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. This is her second deployment to a combat zone.
Major Nayar is from El Paso, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCSA) at San Antonio Medical School. This is her first deployment overseas.
