GC-TEC Seminar: How to Attract and Retain Talent for a Competitive Edge



Attracting and retaining talent is an art—not only hiring good people, but retaining them can be a challenge. However, once the right people are in place, your company will have a competitive advantage. The right employees can strengthen customer relationships, improve client service, and increase product and service delivery and quality.

  

On January 5, 2016, join the Government Contractor Training and Education Consortium (GC-TEC) for a seminar designed to help attendees position their government contracting firms to attract and retain the best talent.

 

John Supplee of the Supplee Group as will present and moderate a panel designed to help attendees position their government contracting firms to attract and retain the best talent. Panelists include Gloria Larkin, President of TargetGov which focuses on government procurement and related business development and marketing services and Lawrence Martinelli of GovTech who is known as an innovator of initiatives that produce cost efficient programming while maintaining high levels of employee satisfaction.

 

The panelists will discuss issues geared at teaching attendees how to:

  • Clearly define their organization's recruitment "brand"
  • Articulate recruiting attractors with more focus
  • Identify and remove recruiting detractors
  • Reduce employee turnover and recruiting expense
  • Reduce training expense

Gloria will help attendees understand how to make strategic hires for better government contracting business development results. She will discuss:  

  • How federal business development has drastically changed over the last five years
  • What exactly does the government customer want from business development professionals
  • Which business development tactics no longer work and which ones do
  • Whether you really need the "six figure hired gun"
  • Different employment arrangements like retainer consultants and commission-based professionals

 Lawrence will discuss:  

  • What's trending with employee benefits
  • The right benchmarks when developing your program
  • How to understand what your employees want from their program

Speaker and Presenter Information

Gloria Larkin is the president of TargetGov, which focuses on government procurement and related business development and marketing services. Clients have won more than $3.5 billion in federal contracts as a direct result of TargetGov's services. Gloria is a frequent speaker and author on business development issues for government contractors. One of her books, "The Basic Guide to Government Contracting," is in its fourth printing.
