International Conference on Clinical Ethics Consultation

On behalf of the ICCEC 2016 Planning Committee, we invite you to attend the 12th International Conference on Clinical Ethics Consultation taking place on May 19-22, 2016 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. 

This series of conferences was started by George J. Agich and Stella Reiter-Theil in 2003 to fill the significant gap in the field between the explosion of clinical ethics, ethics committees, and ethics consultation services around the world and the relative lack of critical and academic discussion of the many practical, institutional, and ethical issues associated with this work. 

The inaugural conference, Clinical Ethics Consultation: First International Assessment Summitwas organized in Cleveland, Ohio, USA on April 4-6, 2003 and had about 150 attendees. Over the past 12 years attendance has dramatically increased and the conference has continued to grow into one of the most recognized clinical ethics conferences worldwide. 

The Center for Ethics at MedStar Washington Hospital Center is extremely honored to host ICCEC 2016 in Washington, DC. Our clinical ethics program is integrated within the largest private hospital in the nation's capital. Our mission is to help clinicians and other hospital professionals meet a standard of excellence in the care of our patients through education, training, consultation, policy development, and research in clinical bioethics. This year we have created an internationally focused multidisciplinary conference on caring for the ethically complicated patient and hope you can join us in our exciting efforts to positively impact the global healthcare community.
