FITARA: Navigating the Implications for Federal Government

The Federal IT Acquisition Reform Act (FITARA) gives agency Chief Information Officers greater authority and involvement in their agencies’ procurement, workforce and budget matters while driving a tighter, more integrated CIO partnership with other senior leaders, including Chief Financial Officers and other procurementand program management officials. Top officials also expect FITARA to propel improved cybersecurity postures across government.

It has been nearly one year since the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released implementation guidance for FITARA, which was signed into law by Congress in December of 2014.

How are Federal agencies adjusting to this ground-breaking IT legislation? What do the agency implementation plans tell us? How does cybersecurity fit within the FITARA context?

FITARA: Navigating the Implications for Federal Government will discuss FITARA and its impact on federal IT management, procurement and securityThe discussion will also examine how departmental CIO relationships with CXO counterparts, program managers and bureau-level CIOs are evolving in the FITARA era.
