FITARA: Navigating the Implications for Federal Government

The Federal IT Acquisition Reform Act (FITARA) gives agency Chief Information Officers greater authority and involvement in their agencies’ procurement, workforce and budget matters while driving a tighter, more integrated CIO partnership with other senior leaders, including Chief Financial Officers and other procurement and program management officials. Top officials also expect FITARA to propel improved cybersecurity postures across government.

It has been nearly one year since the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released implementation guidance for FITARA, which was signed into law by Congress in December of 2014.
