NEW DATE! 2016 Cyber Summit

In an April 2015 report, the Government Accountability Office found 23 out of 24 agency inspectors generally cited information security as a major challenge at their agency. New, sophisticated attacks have often been called Advanced Persistent Threats, a term that is sometimes derided, but has attained widespread adoption. Whatever these attacks are called, they have unique qualities that make them more difficult to defend against.

Although the public and private sectors have been working to strengthen cyber security – passing of legislation, establishing E-Gov Cyber and deploying new capabilities – protecting today’s Internet-enabled and increasingly connected infrastructure and IT systems involves more than one entity, agency or organization.

The Cyber Summit will focus on how to build advanced cyber strategies needed to ultimately fight both external and insider security threats.

Attendees will learn:

  • How threat intelligence sharing can be improved across agencies and levels of government
  • How you defend against phishing attempts and similar cyberattacks
  • What emerging risks are likely to become major threats to a dynamic, interconnected government
  • How government and military health care organizations are utilizing a multi-layer approach to IT security to help minimize risk as data is shared between providers and patients
  • Technical requirements, challenges and solutions for protecting electronic health records and health networks from intrusion
  • Challenges with implementing secure and compliant cloud technology solutions that help improve patient care and collaboration
  • The impacts of data breaches on privacy and ways in which patients’ data can be better secured against those who wish to take patient data and cause harm
  • How medical devices require different security approaches and an exploration of policy, privacy and security issues created as a result of the proliferation of these devices
