25th Annual Preservation Conference

Conservation2 = Preserving Collections x Our Environment

NARA's 25th Preservation Conference will focus on the challenges posed by assuring the long-term preservation of archival, library, and museum collections in the face of rising energy costs, global warming, and reduced budgets. Speakers will address ways in which archival, historic and cultural institutions can "green" themselves by:

  • using building methods and materials that provide sustainability
  • maximizing the efficiency of HVAC systems to benefit collections and the bottom line
  • considering alternative storage sites
  • applying risk assessment to evaluate the impact of environmental change on buildings and collections
  • implementing low-cost methods to minimize risks to collections

The issue of sustaining good preservation practices while minimizing the impact on the environment is more critical every day. Please plan to join us in this important discussion.

Please check this conference web page for updates on the conference program and exhibitors that will be participating.
