Public Sector Women in Leadership
According to the 2015-2016 APS Statistical Bulletin, whilst women make up 57.9% of the Australian Public Service they continue to be grossly underrepresented in a range of senior leadership positions.
It is clear that while women have more opportunities than ever, there is still a great deal of work to be done. Poor work culture, unconscious bias, bullying and the challenges of balancing career with other commitments prevent many women from achieving their leadership potential.
This conference will provide the tools for aspiring women to overcome barriers to success. You will hear presentations and take part in interactive discussions with female and male leaders within the Australian Public Service.
Learn practical strategies to:
- Build resilience to discrimination, bullying and harassment
- Challenge personal and organisational unconscious bias
- Navigate the changing space within the Australian Public Service
- Maintain a competitive career while balancing personal obligations
- Find and develop mentoring relationships with leaders
- Create organisational pathways for women in leadership
- Work with men to prioritise gender equality within the public service
Who will attend?
- Senior and aspiring leaders as well as champions of change from:
- Federal departments and agencies
- State departments and agencies
- Local government
- Universities As well as professionals from HR, diversity and recruitment looking to empower leadership within their own organisation.
