Full Motion Video for Defense

Enhancing Counter-Insurgency Operations and Force Protection

Government and military users across the spectrum of strategic and tactical roles and missions are clamoring for more and better means to collect, analyze, exploit and share full motion video. While the deployment of unmanned systems has led to a significant increase in the amount of video that can be captured, the means to exploit that video for near-real time analysis and dissemination lags behind. Multiple, competing video formats, interoperability challenges with legacy ISR stovepipes, the somewhat limited capabilities of current data tagging and metadata tools, and problems associated with already-strained, bandwidth-constricted ISR networks - all these issues will need to be dealt with if FMV capabilities are to be fully realized.

Every month the DoD streams tens of thousands of hours of live video. The military is becoming increasingly reliant on this video to extract crucial intelligence and turn it into actionable data. This video frequently suffers from quality issues like low resolution, shake, and noise that obscure forensically-valuable details or information. There is a need to dramatically reduce the time required to get situational awareness information into the hands of warfighters, as well as improve the performance of existing automated analysis tools such as facial recognition, targeting, and video analytics.

IDGA’s Full Motion Video for Defense conference will bring together the developers, users, and decision makers who strive to defend American interests both at home and abroad.
