After the Disaster: Mitigating Infrastructure Against Flooding Using 406 Mitigation Assistance

This event qualifies for 1 CEC for CFMs

The Association of State Floodplain Managers invites local floodplain administrators, flood development permitting professionals, and other interested practitioners to our upcoming webinar, “After the Disaster: Mitigating Infrastructure Against Flooding Using 406 Mitigation Assistance)" on November 9 at 1:00-2:30pm Central Time

Disaster costs are increasing – as is the amount reimbursed to states through the FEMA Public Assistance (PA) Program. As FEMA’s largest grant program, PA provides financial and technical assistance to communities responding to and recovering from incidents declared by the President. PA helps fund projects to repair damaged or destroyed infrastructure owned by communities, states, and tribes. However, PA funds increased community resilience in order to break the cycle of disaster losses by providing funding for eligible hazard mitigation projects through Section 406.

This webinar will explain eligible hazard mitigation through Section 406, help participants to identify cost-effective hazard mitigation measures, and highlight how to successfully advocate for more mitigation while repairing of public facilities during the disaster recovery phase.

Objectives:

  1. Understand the basics of 406 mitigation, including eligibility requirements
  2. Streamline processes for implementing 406 mitigation during damage assessment & project worksheet formulation
  3. Learn how to compile documentation required for 406 mitigation projects
  4. Locate resources for Benefit Cost Analyses

Target Audience: emergency managers, planning/zoning officials, public works, state grant program managers

Individual registration, payment, and attendance only. Click here to view our webinar policies. View the video tutorial on where to find & how to apply your promo code.

All registered attendees will receive an electronic recording of the webinar, copies of the slides, and links to various free resources available.
