The Mudboils Webinar

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2 in New York invites you to a very unique webinar, "The Mudboils Webinar."  The mudboils or muddy springs are geologic phenomena located in the Tully Valley, of Onondaga County, New York and only a few other areas worldwide and analysis is being done to find ways to diminish large amounts of sediment discharge into Onondaga Creek.  EPA is hosting this webinar to have a dialogue with people from federal agencies, academic institutions, technical organizations and the private sector to help identify potentially feasible and affordable solution to this problem.   EPA is seeking skills from topic areas such as: wetlands, ground water, site remediation, GIS and mining.  This is a free and voluntary event and there is no cost for registration.

The Mudboils Webinar will be held on January 13, 2011, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. eastern time.  The first hour will consist on presentations on the history of the mudboils, past projects and results, past and present data, and the current situation.  The second hour will consist of Q&A via telephone and internet.

Throughout the webinar EPA will be reminding participants that anyone who believes he or she has knowledge, skills, or resources that will be potentially useful in finding a solution to the mudboil problem should contact EPA immediately following the webinar.  The selected professionals will be contacted to take part in a future one-day workshop to be held in New York City.
