Submarine Capabilities & Requirements Summit

Delivering Affordability and Capability for the Submarine Community!

A naval arms race is gathering pace in the Asia-Pacific. It will be unlike the competition that gripped Europe over a century ago, when the great powers sought to outdo each other in the number and tonnage of warships. To protect US interests in East Asia and the Pacific and to support and reassure US allies, the US has halted and reversed the decline of its submarine fleet and ASW capabilities to address this concern.

Submarines are being asked to take on many different roles and operate in areas far outside the envelope of their original design brief as geopolitical demands shift from what was a relatively simple task to something much more dynamic and variable. The focus of underwater battlespace has shifted to issues outside the world of the submariner including unmanned underwater vehicles, anti-submarine warfare, mine sweeping, and littoral attack.

IDGA’s Submarine Capabilities & Requirements Summit is a forum for the leaders from worldwide navies to discuss the future of submarine warfare. The Summit addresses key challenges and opportunities for the submarine community surrounding Virginia Class platform and technology developments, evolving submarine weapon systems, and current threats within Southeast Asia. It will also hone on the requirements for developing and deploying warfare systems to enhance lethality and survivability in the subsurface environment.

Submarine Capabilities & Requirements Summit Sessions will Discuss:

  • Current initiatives and budgetary challenges on the naval submarine fleet
  • Emerging developments and updates of the Virginia Class submarines
  • Submarine design and construction: Preserving innovation and low rate production
  • Exclusive think-tank discussing the top 5 technology trends to impact submarine warfare
  • The latest on China’s naval modernization efforts
