Public Officials of the Year 2018 Awards Dinner

Each year, Governing hosts our Public Officials of the Year awards dinner in Washington D.C., to honor individual state and local government officials for their outstanding accomplishments in the public sector.

GOVERNING's Public Officials of the Year are elected, appointed or career officials from any branch of state or local government who are nominated by Governing's readers and evaluated by a selection committee. After painstaking research, the committee chooses the honorees. The December issue of Governing will profile each of the honorees.

GOVERNING's Public Officials of the Year are extraordinary public servants who provide distinguished leadership, strong management expertise and good governance.

We invite you to nominate such an individual for GOVERNING's Public Officials of the Year. Do you know an outstanding state, city or county leader who has shown true courage, innovation, creativity and excellence in his or her job?

We accept nominations year round. We are currently accepting nominations for the 2018 awards. The deadline for those nominations is June 1, 2018.
