Defense One Tech Summit
As technological advancements across the world rise at an unprecedented pace, the U.S. military is searching for tools and tricks to provide a tactical advantage against adversaries. This year, the Pentagon is taking leaps forward by bringing these technologies to the battlefield.
The Army is streamlining the way it buys weapons through a “Futures Command,” which will focus on long-range precision fires, a new battlefield communication network and new fighting vehicles. Drones and unmanned vehicles are also playing a bigger daily role in strategic operations. Cyber Command will become a full combatant command, tasked with challenge of securing and maintaining U.S. advantage in what is now called the fifth domain of warfare.
As ever, the Pentagon continues awarding new defense contracts for advanced planes, tanks, ships, and more. But the gear of the future won’t look like Desert Storm. Artificial intelligence, solid-state lasers, next-generation robotics, and a menagerie of science fiction-sounding concepts will be hitting the very real battle and training field, hard.
This is a time of great change and great opportunity in defense technology. The 3rd Annual Defense One Tech Summit will explore the next phase of military advancements. Top national security and tech journalists will sit down with leading tech thinkers in government, industry, academia, Silicon Valley, and more to discuss the game-changing tools of today, the capabilities and possibilities of tomorrow, and where the future of military tech is heading in 2018 and beyond.
