In theatre medicine has never been so effective in saving soldiers' lives. Now the real challenge facing medical forces is the effective utilisation of the Health Support Systems. The technologies that back up front line medics have the potential to improve quality of care, reduce medical errors and prevent deaths.

Health Support Systems and Medical Logistics will look at the technologies and systems that have the potential to make a real difference to Combat Casualty Care and Medical Force Readiness:

  • The integration challenges of medical IT and how these can be overcome at a national and coalition level with case studies from the UK MoD and US DoD
  • How the medical supply chain can be managed to deliver vital equipment quicker and at a lower cost with an in-depth analysis from the Commanding Officer of the Medical Material Center for Europe
  • The main challenges to supplying operation threatre and how these can be eased with a briefing from the UK MoD
  • Increasing medical force readiness and how services can adapt to work more efficiently with emerging Health Support Systems and coalition partners with briefings from Key NATO bodies
  • The evolving use of and place for Telemedicine and simulation in supporting front line medical forces in pre-deployment training and rehabilitation of wounded soldiers
