Grants Management Breakfast (GMB) Forum
REI Systems and the George Washington University’s Trachtenberg School of Public Policy & Public Administration will host a Grants Management Breakfast (GMB) Forum. Our bimonthly GMB Forums bring together professionals from government, academia, and industry to share first-hand experiences in managing the full grants life cycle, resulting in real-world opportunities for process and performance improvement.
At this session, you will hear from Michelle Sager, Director of Strategic Issues for the Government Accountability Office. Her presentation is titled, "Challenges and Successes in Centralizing Grant Management in Illinois."

Speaker and Presenter Information
Michelle Sager is a Director in the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) Strategic Issues team. Her current portfolio includes a range of crosscutting governance issues spanning multiple federal agencies as well as state and local governments. Ms. Sager’s GAO career also includes prior work on budget, regulatory, international trade, and postsecondary education issues as well as experience consulting with teams on qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Her prior experience includes positions as the Director of the Economic Opportunity division at the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices, an adjunct faculty member at Johns Hopkins University’s Institute for Policy Studies and George Mason University’s School of Public Policy, and legislative staff positions in the Missouri House of Representatives as well as the U.S. House of Representatives. Ms. Sager holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and an M.A. in International Commerce and Policy in addition to a B.A. in Communications and Political Science.
