B2GInsight: Enterprise Sourcing Group discussion with AFMC Commander - General Don Hoffman

This Month's Topic:
On October 28, 2010, Air Force Materiel Command activated a new unit to develop strategic contracts for goods and services to be used by all stateside Air Force bases. The unit, called the Enterprise Sourcing Group, is expected to ramp up and be managing contracts totaling approximately $5 billion a year within five years.

In addition to executing enterprise-wide, installation strategic contracts for Air Force bases in the continental United States, the group also will award contracts for the Air Force Center for Engineering and Environment, Air Force Civil Engineering Support Agency and Defense Technical Information Center, as well as providing support for Air Force medical contracting.

Joining us to discuss the ESG mission is General Donald J. Hoffman, Commander of Air Force Materiel Command who will provide insight on how ESG will carry out its mission of helping the Air Force reduce what it currently spends on common goods and services by leveraging its purchasing power, standardizing requirements and eliminating redundant contracting efforts.

GENERAL DONALD J. HOFFMAN Gen. Donald J. Hoffman serves as Commander, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The command's 75,000 people manage $59 billion annually in research, development, test and evaluation while providing the acquisition management services and logistics support required to develop, procure and sustain Air Force weapon systems. General Hoffman is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He was commissioned in 1974 and has served in various operational and staff assignments in Europe, the Middle East and United States. He has commanded at the flight, squadron, group and wing levels, and has served on the staffs of U.S. Central Command, U.S. European Command, Air Education and Training Command, Air Combat Command and Headquarters U.S. Air Force. General Hoffman is a command pilot with more than 3,400 flying hours in fighter, trainer and transport aircraft.
