Federal Executive Briefing: Redefining the Federal Data Center

Make Data Center Consolidation a Reality

The Federal CIO Council introduced the Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative (FDCCI) in early 2010 to eliminate redundant computing facilities, optimize in-place infrastructures, and emphasize efficiency and information-sharing within and among Federal enterprise operations.  Since then, agencies have been working to inventory their data center assets, develop consolidation plans and integrate these plans into future budget requests.

In October 2010, the CIO Council followed up with a status report that documented nearly 2,100 data centers government-wide, and the President’s GFY2012 budget includes data center targets for each agency as they move toward consolidated computing environments.

Join government and industry colleagues focused on enabling the FDCCI and learn more about how agencies are taking steps to make data center consolidation a reality at the Willard Hotel in Washington, DC on August 17.

This half-day program will cover:

  • Current efforts to reduce energy consumption, streamline data management, and strengthen privacy and security for information assets
  • Challenges and opportunities for data center consolidation
  • Best practices for modernizing enterprise infrastructures
  • How to maximize flexibility and scale with virtualization and cloud computing
  • Technologies to cut costs, monitor energy use, and expand enterprise computing capabilities
