AFCEA DC DISA: Shaping a Common, Modern, Joint Defense
Please join AFCEA DC for a virtual event on Jan. 14, 2021, to hear DISA officials discuss how the agency will work closely with mission partners and industry to support innovation across the DoD enterprise in key strategic areas, including the cloud, command, control and communications and cybersecurity.
The Defense Information System Agency’s (DISA) mission aligns well with AFCEA DC’s overarching theme for our 2020-2021 Virtual Event Series, "A Common Defense: Modern. Innovative. Joint." DISA conducts Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN) operations for the joint warfighter across all fighting domains. As the COVID-19 outbreak spread, DISA was at the forefront working with the Air Force to launch the Commercial Virtual Remote platform to accommodate a large-scale remote workforce. Going forward, DISA will have to sustain the emergency IT capabilities and network enhancements to support telework over the long term. Meanwhile, DISA is considering how technologies such as Software Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN) can help it provide secure network capabilities across the Defense establishment. In 2021, DISA officials will continue to strengthen cyber defenses, reduce operating costs, enhance cloud and mobile environments, and improve support services across the DoD enterprise.
