Affirm November Virtual Speaker Series: IT Support During Natural Disasters
This event qualifies for 1 PDU
The last few months have seen the devastating results of hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and wildfires that have impacted the technology that underpins government, educational institutions, and citizens.
To be effective, rescue organizations must rely on communications and data, and when lives or livelihoods are threatened, the stakes are high; vital government data and information must be robust with an ironclad disaster recovery plan and the latest technology in place to weather the storm. Federal, State and Local governments are implementing various systems and applications to help with predictive analytics and community support when disasters strike. These disasters take a toll on the community they impact, and governments are trying to not only help prior to the disaster, but also support the community after. New technologies are being implemented to meet the needs of individuals and to better inform the government with clear, up to date data.
This webinar will explore how agencies are using technology to ensure continuity of operations and mission delivery in the face of disasters.
Learning objectives:
-
Discuss the resources needed to securely access data and applications when the primary systems are unavailable.
-
Review compliance requirements such as FedRAMP that need to be considered in determining data storage and access plans.
-
Delineate emerging technological approaches to assure immediate and on-demand user and application access if the primary data source fails or is unreachable for continuity of operations.
