Transitioning from "Social Media" to "Mission Media": Using Social Media to Achieve DoD Missions

Delivering the right information, when they need it, and where they want it

Traditional knowledge management systems used centralized tools to create and store information and then deliver it from a fixed portal to users on desktop systems.

In the increased ops tempo of today's net-centric battle environment, those technologies and methodologies aren’t able to fully support the information needs of the agile warfighter.

To fuel today’s knowledge-enabled service members, defense communities must effectively harness the collective intelligence of its teams and then rapidly deploy the right information, through multiple channels and devices, to the right individual at the right time. In the process, they must also constantly evaluate and optimize the effectiveness of the information and its distribution.

Social media provides an easy-to-use set of tools that transparently and intuitively connects service members, leveraging the power of relationships and immediate perspective to improve situational awareness. As a result, social media has become "mission media"—with social networking technologies weaving a relational intelligence layer into the fabric of our nation’s defense organizations.

This seminar examines the diverse use and analysis of social media in defense organizations, and with it, the ability to create and sustain the next generation warfighter.

Join us as we explore this topic live with a panel of military and technology experts, led by Adobe Systems Incorporated. This seminar will also feature a keynote by Maxine Teller, Director of Strategy and Business Development for Blue Beacon Consulting.

At the end of the seminar, there will be a brief review of Adobe CQ5 Social Collaboration, Adobe SiteCatalyst®, and Adobe Social. Collectively, these technologies make it easy for each soldier to join the conversation and make a contribution, in a secured environment that allows for analysis and audit.
With these technologies, you can empower your unit to:
Quickly and effectively share information, intelligence, and assets
Leverage the power of permission-based, enterprise-wide, multi-author blogging, wikis, and forums
Easily connect with other soldiers who have similar profiles/orders
Rapidly analyze the information pathways and patterns across your social media technologies
