itSMF National Capital: ISO/IEC 20000 Updates and Certification

TOPIC1: US Army Service Desk Marches to ISO/IEC 20000 Certification.

The October program focuses on ISO/IEC 20000. Ms. Bouslog, of the US Army, will speak about the steps they took to get ISO/IEC 20000 registered in 18 months; including the planning, scope, team construction and build-out of the Service Management System at the US Army’s Consolidated Customer Service Center (CCSC). Alef Girma, L-3 consultant, who joined the project in February 2010 as the ITIL SME and ISO/IEC 20000 Lead will also discuss his role in the process.

 

SPEAKER BIO: Ms. Debra L. Bouslog, Director of the US Army Information Technology Agency’s Consolidated Customer Service Center (CCSC), led the agency to ISO/IEC 20000 Registration in July 2011. She is a dedicated public servant and IT expert. Ms. Bouslog achieved her MBA from College of William and Mary, maintains a CISSP certification, a Level III Acquisition Certification in the IT Career field and is a member of the Army Acquisition Corps. Her awards include the Navy Unit Commendation Citation Medal from the Commandant of the Marine Corps, the Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service, the Secretary of Defense Medal for the Global War on Terrorism and the Army Knowledge Management Award on behalf of CCSC.

 

SPEAKER BIO: Alef Girma, is an L-3 Consultant, ITIL V3 Expert, Board Secretary at Americas Regional priSM Institute and ISO 20000 SME who has worked in IT Service Management. Mr. Girma started working at the CCSC for Ms. Bouslog in February 2010 as the ITIL Subject Matter Expert and the ISO/IEC 20000 Lead. He has 10 years of experience in IT Service Management with four of those years focused in the government sector.

 

TOPIC2: Transition to the new ISO/IEC 20000

In April 2011, ISO published a revised version of ISO/IEC 20000-1. The presentation will describe the differences between the 2005 and 2011 versions of the standard. It will also describe how the new version of the standard relates to ITIL V3.

 

SPEAKER BIO: Robert Whitcher is an Information Security and IT professional with over 36 years’ experience in the IT industry and more than 26 years’ experience in Information Security, Privacy and business continuity. Robert is currently the Product Manager for ISO/IEC 20000 (IT Service Management), ISO/IEC 27001 (Information Security) and BS 25999 (Business Continuity) for BSI in the Americas. He previously held the position of the Global Product Manager for the same three standards at BSI in the UK.
