How to Start a TEMS Program
Allowing tactical paramedics to make entry with SWAT and law enforcement tactical units is becoming increasingly more popular around the world. Lives are being saved with medical personnel present to perform lifesaving treatments within seconds of injury.
TEMS providers and conventional EMS have different care priorities while seeking similar outcomes. EMT and paramedic training programs do not comprehensively address law enforcement operations. If an agency adds conventional EMS providers into tactical teams, conflicts and problems could be too great to overcome. Typically, the protocol is to stage away from the crisis site or crime scene and wait for law enforcement to secure the scene. A tactical operation may not be secure for several hours or days.
During this webinar, attendees will learn about how to start a TEMS program. The panelists will discuss recruitment, training, equipment, costs, roadblocks, policy issues and more. There is a lot that goes into getting a new TEMS program launched and our goal is share some lessons learned with you about getting started and what to expect along the way.
