FCPA Enforcement Trends for the Biden Administration: 2021 and Beyond
K&L Gates partner David Rybicki, a former senior U.S. Department of Justice official, will host an in-depth discussion of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) enforcement landscape and what to expect from the new leadership at the Department of Justice.
The FCPA prohibits the payment of bribes to foreign officials to assist in obtaining or retaining business. The FCPA has an extensive reach and can apply to prohibited conduct that occurs anywhere in the world. U.S. public companies and their officers, directors, employees, and agents are the statute’s main focus, but foreign entities with a nexus to, or presence in, the United States may also be at risk.
David will discuss developments in corporate enforcement policies, guidance on compliance programs, and will offer insights on how the Biden Administration's prioritization of anti-corruption initiatives will affect enforcement by the Department of Justice. Tokyo partner Eric Sedlak will moderate the discussion after the presentation.
