How Video and Image Analytics are Driving Smarter Operations

Agencies today can use video and image analytics solutions to act as 24/7 eyes and ears in the field. By capturing images and then immediately applying analytics at the edge, these solutions can trigger manual or automated responses. For example, multiple agencies could automatically be alerted about an accident on the road ahead or a public works department could be alerted that a waste bin needs to be emptied.

Video analytics can also give agencies visibility into areas that are too difficult, unsafe, time-consuming, or costly for humans to access and constantly monitor. Instead of sending humans to scour every mile of roads, bridges, or utility lines, for example, organizations can attach cameras to vehicles, traffic lights, drones, or other platforms to collect and analyze information.

The use cases are endless, but the result is agencies that can make real-time decisions, respond proactively to issues, and plan for the future.

Join Government Technology on August 22 at 10 a.m. Pacific/1 p.m. Eastern as we explore the potential impact of video and image analytics solutions in a variety of use cases, including:

  • How the state of Oklahoma is proactively identifying cars that are not insured, without requiring a traffic stop or involving law enforcement
  • How the city of Kansas City, Missouri, used cameras mounted on garbage trucks to save more than $2 million and increase constituent satisfaction by 20%
  • How a large utility in California is using cameras on drones combined with artificial intelligence to manage its distribution and transmission infrastructure inspection program
