AFCEA Bethesda June Breakfast: Mobile Technologies

In January, Federal CIO Steven VanRoekel declared 2012 the year of mobile government—but today, mobility itself is being transformed. The CIO Council’s new Digital Government Strategy goes beyond mobile technology to rethink the way federal agencies manage information and interact with citizens. The strategy has four components, each answering a key question:
  • Information-Centric: How can agencies transition from managing documents to discrete bits of data that can be tagged, searched, analyzed, and disseminated?
  • Shared-Platform Approach: How can agencies work together to share best-practices and develop open standards for data and application management?
  • Customer-Centric: How can agencies design websites, applications and data sets that provide meaningful information to citizens wherever and however they need it?
  • Security & Privacy: How can agencies do all of this while protecting citizen privacy and mitigating the threat of security breaches?

Join AFCEA Bethesda on June 20, 2012 at the Bethesda North Marriott and Conference Center as a panel of federal government technology leaders discuss implementation efforts ranging from acquisition to device management that will make the digital strategy a reality. Panelists will discuss:
  • How federal agencies can work together to make open data, content and web services the new default
  • The role of device and application management in agency mobile strategies
  • The evolution of agencies towards a bring-your-own-device model
  • The technical implementations - such as HTML5 - that will be central to transforming how agencies make data more accessible to citizens
  • The evolution of security guidelines in mobility
